Buying a Yearling
This is the most popular option
You maximise the horses opportunites for a yearling as the horse can begin running at the start of the new season.
If you leave time between purchasing and the start of the new season, you will have time to work out the horses preferences.
You will have the option to name the horse.
Buying a 2YO
You get the opportunity to race your horse immediately.
You will have the option to name the horse.
I would guard against buying near the end of a season. You will have limited time to race before the horse turns 3.
Buying a 3YO
Not a good idea in my opinion, you lose out on the horses 2YO and some of the 3YO season.
You get the opportunity to race your horse immediately.
You will have the option to name the horse.
